Blurring the Lines

Ironic that I would do a pixel art piece for once and call it "blurring the lines" ...!

So, I normally don't do "dolling" but this seemed too perfect not to try on Corixa! And it makes a good overall reference for her, since I don't have many of those for my characters. Granted, it was made from a base and that means much of the work in this piece was already done for me. Just so that's clear!

Corixa has always been in interesting character. A lot of fiction overplays the good in "good" characters and the bad in "bad" characters. Corixa is essentially "good" in her alliance -- she is absolutely loyal to Chrishankhah, Chrishankhah's enemies are her enemies, and she'll defend her friend and leader to the death.

But Corixa's methods are questionable. She is manipulative, cold, and won't think twice about the blood she sheds. Perhaps it is because of her past, or perhaps she is so goal-orientated that she sees no reason to tiptoe around the proverbial red tape. And yet, you would be silly to point it out to her, because she would humble you in a moment: Corixa is wise and knows that she only actualizes the things that everyone thinks. She'll point out that killing is hardly a step above hating, and beg to question -- who is truly good?

Can't as much be said of human nature? We rate "good" men and "good" women. But we think wicked thoughts all of the time -- even the best of us. Who is truly good?
