"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." -- Matthew 7:13-14

Here's some food for thought:

If the way is as narrow as Christ says, here; if Christ is telling us the truth (and let us hope He is,) ... where have modern evangelists acquired the idea that you can lead a church in a repeated prayer and justify 500 or more people saved, that day, despite the fact that many (or most) of those very people are back to their old lifestyles within weeks? That's not something to boast about; that's bad fruit ...

Matthew 7:15-20 -
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."

Photo was shot in Glasgow, Scotland 2006. (Ironically, before I knew Christ.)

Stop judging others & you will not be judged. For others will treat you as you treat them. Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye. Matthew 7:1, 2 & 5
this is so cool.

Easy because god loves us so much her forgive all our sins, when we are first born again. He understands we are human and not perfect. Believe me when we all get there we will have to still work, if we have lived a life of sin. The Pharisees taught that forgiveness was temporary{SP?} That we had to work every day on forgiveness and walk a narrow path. Again your taking the translations of those verses as they have been translated in the NIV. In the hebrew it was a word that was a word that was not narrow but acutally meant the road less traveled. The easier path. Read the book "Light thru the eastern window" It will help you to understand the eastern mind set. The way Christ and his followers really thought. The NIV was translated by people who did not fully understand the eastern ways of thinking. BTW I just noticed this photo was taken in Glascow. Wow you were in Scotland. Did you get to see Loch Ness?

Oh, foo. I wrote a message, then hit cancel. I'm smurt ;)

Anyway ... I quoted NLT in the, it's actually "worse" than the NIV, but I use it when it seems loyal enough. In the artwork, that's King James. :)

I don't need to back my statements; the scriptures in James and the other epistles are very clear on this. Does a person who is ruthlessly and remorselessly spiteful have the Holy Spirit? I do not believe such a person was ever saved by God or gave all of their heart to Him, because the Holy Spirit would move such a person to repentance. That is part of the fruit of the Spirit, the evidence by which we know we are in Christ.

Anyway ... Scotland! I did not just see Loch Ness. I was part of the crew sailing on it for several days and helped to guide the ship through the canals by walking along and latching ropes onto land-based anchors. I helped to bring the sails up once we got to sea amidst the Hebredes and climbed to the top of the crowsnest. I even napped on the netting in front of the bow. What an experience!

lol i do it sometimes. Hmm I could have sworn. Ah well I believe you completely

The way I am is like this. I have met quite few christians who just as you just described. Spiteful and even worse to me, they are gossipers. We dont know what is going in their hearts. I believe in what paul said in romans when it comes to this. Romans 12 verse 18 thru 21

[18] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
[19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
[20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
[21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Now I want you to look at verse ninteen. If you look at this it shows god as being a vengeful God. and that it is Ok to give place to wrath. The thing is this is mistranslated. The words I will repay is what throws it into mistranslation. As do the words give place to wrath. The translation directly from the Peshitta version of the bible is this.

19. Dearly beloved, avenge not your selfs, but rather restrain your wrath: for it is written. Vengence is mine: I will excute justice for you: saith the lord.

If you want the link for the eastern version I will link it to you. But as you see the meaning is changed. First as christians whenever we see a cristian doing wrong. We need to restrain our selves and not give place to wrath. In other words we need to let go and let god handle it . now if you look at the verses after 19 it is clarified.

[20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Hmm now I dont know about you. But I dont see anything in there that says its ok to tell them they are wrong for living as they do. But instead it says to feed him or her when they are hungary. If they be thirsty then give them water.

Instead we are to be kind to them no matter how they act, and just leave them be the way they are. By being kind we heap the coals of fire on their head. In otherwords let god be the one who works on their heart. V21 clarifies this even more.

[21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

In other words just be good to them and let God do the rest. Let God do all the hard stuff. You cant change how someone is. By preaching to them unless their hearts are ready and open to it. But because we are not God, we really dont know when that is. All you can do is give them the love they need to open their hearts to Gods influance. Thats all we need to do hun. Let God do all the worrying. And just love them no matter what. Let God do the rest. I had to learn this the hard way.

Wow your so lucky and Now I evy you big time. getting to see and be on the beautiful Loch Ness. one of the most beautiful lakes in all of scotland. I am guessing you didnt get to see Nessie.
